Our History

Dhemaji City College, formerly known as Dhemaji Girls’ College, is today a premier higher education institution situated in Dhemaji District. The college was established in 1986 and, since its inception, has sincerely rendered service in imparting higher education at the UG level while devotedly working for the all-round development of students and contributing to community service, as expected of a higher education institution. Though the college was founded in 1986, in the beginning it offered only UG level courses. Dibrugarh University accorded permission to start UG courses in 1994.

The active involvement of the college in disseminating knowledge and its assiduous performance within its precincts pleased Dibrugarh University to extend affiliation in 2001 for the ongoing Arts courses. In the years to come, the college obtained UGC’s 2f on 12th April, 2010 and 12B on 21st January, 2011. The college was provincialized under the Provincialization Act by the Government of Assam in 2014, with effect from 14th August, 2013.

Dear all, on behalf of Dhemaji City College (Formerly Dhemaji Girls’ College), I offer my warm welcome to all the students as well as their parents who are willingly seeking admission at this college; it is a premier seat of academic intellectual development institution that has been attracting all status of the society.

The Foundation of the realization of the dream of the common poor people of this flood affected vast area to create an academic renaissance in the form of a college. How this college has come across almost two decades in its mission of imparting Higher Education to the young aspirants leading to fulfillment of serious cultural environment in this economically disadvantaged region. As the principal of the college, I am really proud that Dhemaji City College has been attracting all kinds of students. Here I would like to offer my hearty thanks to the students getting admissions to the institution and appreciate their parents for taking proper decisions to be given admission of their offspring to this institution.

From this desk, I congratulate the students of this institute those who have succeeded in various fields for bringing glory to this institution.
