Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)

The college follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as prescribed by Dibrugarh University. This system emphasizes learner-centered education and provides flexibility in choosing courses while enhancing student mobility, teacher accountability, and transparency in governance.

Credit Defines

Credits defines the quantum of contents/syllabus prescribed for a course and determines the number of hours of instructions required per week.

  • 1 lecture per week = 1 hr duration per week = 1 credit
  • 1 Tutorial per week = 1 hr duration per week = 1 credit
  • 1 Practical per week = 2 hr duration per week = 1 credit

Intake and Reservation of Seat

A few seats shall be reserved for physically handicapped students and those belonging to economically weaker families.

Results and Progression

Grading System

  1. The absolute grading system shall be applied in evaluating performance of the students.
  2. The following scale of grading system shall be applied to indicate the performances of students in terms of letter grade and grade points as given below:

C (Pass) 4 Marks securing 40%–50%
F (Fail) 0 Marks securing below 40%
Abs (Absent/Incomplete) 0

A candidate shall be declared as passed a course, provided he/she secures:

  • At least 40% of marks in each course in the End Semester examinations.
  • At least a ‘P’ grade in the 10-point scale combining both the In-Semester and End-Semester examination performance.
  • There shall be no separate pass marks for Internal Assessment.

Assessment System

Internal Assessment (20%)

The marks allotted for Internal Assessment in each course shall be based on:

  • Sessional Examination I (Written) - 25%
  • Sessional Examination II (Written) - 25%
  • Seminar/Group Discussion - 25%
  • Attendance - 25%

Note: Continuous and Comprehensive Assessment (CCA) is mandatory. Without CCA, students cannot appear for the End Semester Examination.

End Semester Examination (80%)

  • One end semester examination carrying 80% marks in each course
  • Covers the entire syllabus prescribed for the course
  • As per Academic Calendar and University Exam ordinances
  • Three hour duration

Admission Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • Passing Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or equivalent
  • For B.A. in Economics Honours: Preferably passed HS with Mathematics as a subject
  • Economics Honours students without Mathematics at HS level must complete AECC Mathematics (2 credits)

Documents Required for Admission

  • Attested copy of pass certificate and character certificate from the institution last attended
  • Attested copy of mark sheets of the last examination passed
  • Age Certificate and Caste Certificate
  • Two attested copies of passport size photograph
  • Personal presence of the candidate is necessary at the time of admission

Additional Information

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance in class is mandatory for all students. Students must attend at least 75% of the total classes held; otherwise they will not be allowed to appear in the final examinations.

Internal Examinations

Internal examinations like Unit Tests, Terminal Examinations, Test Examinations, and Sessional Examinations are compulsory for all students.

Discipline

All powers for maintenance of discipline are vested with the Principal, whose decision shall be final in all such matters. Violation of rules, irregular attendance, discourtesy to teachers and staff members, and adopting unfair means during examinations are offences that make students liable for disciplinary action.
